HMO mortgages with Leeds Building Society – Buy to let house of multiple occupancy

HMO mortgages are very criteria driven and very restrictive as the majority of mortgage lenders will decline this type of let property as suitable security.  As a mortgage adviser always looking to offer the best mortgage advice, given each client’s circumstances I am always reviewing the lenders criteria. HMO or multi-let property represent much of the mortgages I complete so I am very familiar with the small number of lenders available to lend on such property investments.  However, with the recent implement of Mortgage Market Review this week, has caused some lenders to reassess their exposure to risk and as an example Leeds Building Society will no longer allow HMO mortgage lending to first time landlords. Although Leeds will not offer mortgages for HMO let properties to the first time landlord, it is worth noting that they will also not offer mortgages for landlords who have more than 4 mortgaged let properties and so are a lender only for the novice investor For all the latest HMO mortgage rates visit our HMO mortgage page or contact us for a free and detailed personal quote
